Please read the information below to help with troubleshooting installation problems

1. Minimum Android OS Required

CivTAK 4.1 requires Android OS 5.1 or later. It will not install and/or operate properly on earlier operating systems.

CivTAK-PR does not work on Intel systems, and it does not work on 32 bit systems.

There is an UNOFFICIAL rebuild of CivTAK-PR 4.0.0.1-pr with broader architecture support. Download it here.

2. Application Permission

Software operations running in the background are set not to allow the installation of third-party software, it is also one reason why app not installed error on Android happens.

3. Enable "Install Unknown Apps" or "Install from Unknown Sources"

Because CivTAK is not yet in the Google Play Store, "Install Unknown Apps" from the Settings menu or you will not be able to install the app.

4. Uninstall Previous vesions"

If you have a previous version of CivTAK or a different version/variant of ATAK, you may need to uninstall it before you can install the new version.

5. Insufficient Storage

If you are storing too much data on your Android phone, the downloaded app certainly can’t be installed on Android. However, as Android devices now are having more and more storage, insufficient storage is rarely a reason for the Android app not installed error.

6. Corrupted/Contaminated App File

If you download apps from somewhere else than Google Play Store, app files are usually can’t be installed on your device smoothly. It is OK to download apps from other platforms, you just need to check its extension name and make an effort not to install contained files.

7. Storage Location

Apps work best when they are stored on an Android device’s internal memory and some apps can only be stored in the device’s internal storage. If you don’t save the app in an appropriate location, it is for sure that the Android app not installed error would occur.

8. SD Card Not Mounted in the Device

CivTAK will not install on your SD card. (You can put maps and other data in the SD card's /atak directory and it will be use that data as though it ws on the SD card however).

Even though some apps can be downloaded and installed to the SD card, you will see the Android app not installed notification because the SD card is not mounted on the device.

9. Corrupted Storage

Corrupted storage, especially the corrupted SD card, is one of the most common reasons why the Android app not installed error occurs. Unwanted data might contain elements that disturb the storage location, causing the Android app not installed an error.
